Agnes M. “Babe” Atkinson, 74, of Ligonier, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, in Ligonier Gardens Personal Care Home. She was born May 9, 1945, in Fayette City, daughter of George Stihel and Agnes Rodgers Stihel. She is survived by two sons, Norman E. Atkinson III and wife Amanda of Greensburg, Eric Atkinson and wife Anna of Annaopolis, Md.; three grandchildren, Grace, Faith and Hope Atkinson; two brothers, George Stihel,Jr. of Tennessee and Leonard Stihel of Lowber, Fayette City; two sisters, Vernoica Payne of Arizona and Rose Mary Owsold of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman E. Atkinson Jr., on March 21, 1996; and one sister, Valeria Wilson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, in the funeral home with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon.
