Turnovers costly in Cougars’ loss to South Park

The Charleroi girls basketball team has relied on three things this season: Defense, taking care of the basketball and senior guard Bella Skobel.
If one falters, the Cougars struggle. If two fail, the team typically loses.
Skobel poured in a game-high 24 points, but Charleroi turned the ball over 17 times and fell to 0-5 when surrendering over 50 points in a 52-41 loss to South Park Thursday night.
The loss drops the Cougars (10-7, 6-4) two games behind the Eagles for second place in Section 2-3A and only one game up on Brownsville.
“The sad part is we’re running out of time,” said Charleroi head coach Bill Wagner. “We have got to win a couple of these games if we’re going to make the playoffs, it’s that simple. We worked hard early in the season to get where we’re at but we’re struggling right now.”
