A dodgeball game usually invokes memories of gym class.
But a friendly, night-time game of dodgeball will help students and teachers in the West Jefferson Hills School District raise funds for the district’s efforts to fight cancer.
The Thomas Jefferson High School gymnasium will be the center of attention when the TJ vs. Cancer Dodgeball Tournament takes place at 7 p.m. today, with classmates and teachers battling for dodgeball supremacy.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and proceeds will benefit the district’s efforts to raise money for care and research of childhood cancer.
The tournament is part of the district’s “mini-thon,” which also features a male beauty pageant in March and culminates in an eight-hour dance-a-thon April 24. Funds from the events go to Four Diamonds, a Penn State Children’s Hospital-based medical facility that pays 100% of all medical expenses related to cancer care not covered by insurance for eligible Four Diamonds children.
