Julia Agnes Paholski – Belle Vernon

By obits

The granddaughters of Julia Agnes Paholski of Belle Vernon are so sad to announce that our “Grammy” was called to God early in the morning of Jan. 23, 2020.  She was 101 years old. Gram died in her home, according to her longstanding wish, after a series of heart attacks over the past few weeks. Known as “Jay,” Grandma amazed everyone who knew her because she always looked 25 years younger than her age. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James “Jimmy” Paholski in 1992 and, tragically, by her daughter Judith Ann Paholski Sterner in 1983. Grandma was born in April 1918 in a coal camp in Braznell, PA. Her parents were Marianne Varsel Koslasky and Enick Koslasky. She had four brothers: Stanley, Enoch, Raymond, and Albert (Butch), all residents of Belle Vernon, whom she outlived. Jay and Jimmy Paholski loved nothing more than to Polka-dance together, and we know that is what they are doing up in heaven right now. We are grieved that Grandma, after being blessed with more than a century of life, has left us and taken a huge piece of southwestern Pennsylvania history with her. We love you Grammy, and it was an honor to all your family, friends and neighbors who loved you to be able to take care of you and see you a few last times, during these last few weeks. We can hardly imagine life without you. Please donate to the St. Sebastian St. Vincent de Paul Conference in memory of Jay. She was an active volunteer at the Monessen St. Vincent de Paul thrift store for many years. Viewing will be held at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020. Prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian Parish. Interment will follow immediately in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Condolences accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
