Gowns galore at Glitter & Gold Gala

Best friends, dedicated aunts, moms and disgruntled little brothers accompanied local high school ladies at Jazzy Boutique’s third annual Glitter and Gold Gala Thursday night.

Girls from all over the region stood in line in the cold as early as 5:30 p.m. to land one of the first spots in the door for the free prom dress event that draws annual crowds of close to 200.

The excitement in the room was evident as girls rifled through the racks of sparkling gowns in hopes of finding the perfect dress for that special night in April or May.

Jazzy Boutique owner Diann Donaldson is proud of how far the event has come and announced at the beginning of the night that she has no plans of slowing down next year.

“This is something that’s very important to us now for the third year in a row, and we’re going to keep it going for as long as we possibly can in this space,” Donaldson said of the Broad Avenue shop.
