The Westmoreland County Republican Party selected its candidate Thursday for the upcoming special election to fill the vacant seat in the 58th Legislative District, naming Eric Davanzo.
The meeting to select a candidate was held at the Westmoreland County Republican Party Headquarters in Greensburg. Chairman Kerry Jobe said it was a tough decision between two candidates.
Davanzo, his wife and two daughters reside in South Huntingdon Township in the Smithton area. He’s a graduate of Yough High School and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
“I want to carry on the work that Justin Walsh has done. I want to be a voice for our blue-collar workers, because that’s what I am,” Davanzo said. “We’re going to do a grassroots campaign and keep the seat red.”
