The South Allegheny boys basketball team has been quite the story this season.
Despite boasting a lineup without the presence of a senior, the Gladiators have gone nearly unblemished on the season.
The school and community came out in full force to support the team Friday night as it opposed one of the WPIAL’s most prolific scorers in Cam Polak and rival Steel Valley.
South Allegheny did not disappoint.
The Gladiators clinched at least a share of the Section 3-3A title with a 77-59 win over the second-place Ironmen.
South Allegheny now has a three game lead with only three section games remaining on the schedule.
“This game is huge for our guys, it’s a huge rivalry with a neighboring school district,” said SA coach Tony DiCenzo. “The student body and community are really jumping on our success and it was a validation win for us. It really showed our kids what we are capable of doing.”
