Cultural trust to stage Oscar short films gala

By Mon Valley Independent

For the MVI

The Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust is partnering with the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown to bring the five Oscar-nominated short films in both the live action and animation categories to our region with a special event.

The Oscar Short Film Red Carpet Event will be held Jan. 31 at the State Theatre, 27 E. Main St. This is the third year the MMVCT has brought the Oscar shorts to the Mon Valley and the first year in partnership with the State Theatre.

Oscar time of year is a bonanza for cinema buffs and casual moviegoers because it is when production companies release their best movies.

The majority of movie goers are familiar with best picture, director, actor, actresses categories, but may not be familiar with the short subject categories.
