Following its loss to South Fayette Friday, the Thomas Jefferson boys basketball team wasn’t happy.
The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak, but in the process, reignited and refocused the Jaguars. After a tense practice on Sunday, Thomas Jefferson came out angry and took it to West Allegheny, defeating the Indians 77-69.
Isaac McNeil led the Jaguars with 29 points, while Noah Pierce had 22.
“Sunday’s practice, the focus was great. I mean, they knew I was (upset),” said Thomas Jefferson coach Dom DeCicco. “There was a lot of yelling at each other, it was very competitive, and there were almost fights. That’s when I know our team’s ready to go.”
From the beginning, it was obvious that the Jaguars were playing with fire. Their offense was fast, smooth and efficient, and McNeil was the leader, pouring in 13 points in the first quarter to help the Jaguars to a 24-15 lead.
