Belle Vernon Borough Solicitor Krisha DiMascio said plans to arrange a local and public meeting with PennDOT concerning the Route 906 closure have been unsuccessful.

DiMascio said borough council will seek a compromise with PennDOT to arrange an informational meeting on Belle Vernon’s turf concerning the damaged roadway.

“We sent a letter saying we wouldn’t agree to a private meeting,” she said. “… I don’t know why this is such a problem for them to come and answer questions about a road that all of you pay for.”

At Tuesday’s council meeting, DiMascio said PennDOT first suggested a private meeting with council to have discussions, but DiMascio said she refused because of potential Sunshine Act conflict. She also noted that a public meeting would give citizens a chance to address any questions or concerns they may have.
