Jazzy Boutique’s annual Glitter & Gold Gala set for Thursday

Every girl deserves to feel like a princess on her prom night.
That’s why Diann Donaldson, owner of Jazzy Boutique in North Belle Vernon, has made it her mission to make sure every girl attending the prom gets to wear the dress of her dreams.
This marks the third year for the annual Glitter & Gold Gala, where Donaldson, shop employees and volunteers clear out the boutique’s front room and for one night only, fill it to the brim with sparkling, nearly new formal gowns.
Any young lady attending prom this spring is invited to attend the gala at 6 p.m. Thursday, and while the event is considered “closed door,” walk-ins are just as welcome as are online sign-ups.
Donaldson said she first drew inspiration for the gala from her own prom experience. When her father lost his job as a steelworker, she said her family did their best to keep her in up-to-date clothing styles, but they couldn’t afford a prom dress. Donaldson cleaned her grandmother’s house as a way to earn money to buy her own gown.
