Barbara J. “Barb” Saxton, 61, of Lebanon, Mo., formerly of Monongahela, passed into life eternal after a lengthy battle with dementia on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at home surrounded by her husband, stepchildren, sister, brother-in-law and her sister-in-law, Nolene. She was born Jan. 31, 1958, in New Eagle, the daughter of the late Bill and Betty Poroda. Barb graduated from Ringgold High School in 1976. She held various civil servant positions with the U.S. Army and was employed as a secretary at the Fort Leonard Wood Army Hospital prior to her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Saxton, with whom she celebrated 14 years of marriage in Aug. 2019; stepson, Ian (Courtney) Saxton; stepdaughter, Berlynn Butler; sister, Judy (Coy) Gerba; niece, Natalie (Jeffrey) Alvarez; nephew, Brandon (Tiffany) Gerba; seven grandchildren, Chloe, Zachary and Ryland Butler; Hunter and Calum Cline, Landon and Grayson Saxton; aunts, June Butler, Sandy Poroda and Sudella Poroda; cousins; and loving in-laws. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Compassus Hospice who provided loving and compassionate care to both Barb and Kenny during Barb’s final months here with us. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Sixth and Main streets, Monongahela, at 11 a.m Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, followed by a lunch in the church parlor. Interment will be private.
