The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for the entire region because of a low-pressure system that is expected to bring a wintry mix and snow today.
The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m., and NWS said mixed precipitation is expected.
The forecast calls for snow accumulations of up to 3 inches and “a light glaze” (0.10 inches) of ice.
Snow and ice accumulation is expected to be heavier north and east of Pittsburgh. An infographic shared by NWS-Pittsburgh on its Twitter account states that 3 to 5 inches of snow are expected near Interstate 80 and 1 to 3 inches will fall between I-80 and Interstate 70.
“Plan on slippery road conditions,” a NWS-Pittsburgh release states.
