Chris ‘Papou’ Bolias – Monessen

Chris “Papou” Bolias, 82, of Monessen, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at his residence. He was born on April 9, 1937, in Monessen, the son of the late Louis and Irene Mascitelli Bolias. Chris was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1954 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a retired machinist, having worked at the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and Joy Mining Machinery in Canonsburg. Chris was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, ISMA, Speers Boat Club and a life member of Elks 773. He also was a past member of Eagles Aerie 2399, the Croatian Club and Hilltop Firemen’s Club. Chris was a proud member of the Rockets baseball team in Monessen years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Christine (Jac) Warfield of Monessen, Carolyn (Rick Lynn) Bolias of Belle Vernon; two grandsons, Ricky C. (Kristen) Tyburski of Rostraver Township and Tyler Tyburski of Monessen; two great-granddaughters, Victoria and Charlotte Tyburski; a brother, Nick (Amelia) Bolias of Monessen; a friend, Amanda Higgins of Monessen; two sisters-in-law, Kay Piscitelli of Carroll Township and Jean Quattrone of Finleyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmela Quattrone Bolias; his father and mother-in-law, Patsy and Minnie Quattrone; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Piscitelli and Philip Quattrone. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 119 St. Spyridon Lane, Monessen, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. with Father Constantine Kokanos officiating.
