A new recovery house will soon open in Monessen.
An open house is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the McKee Avenue facility, which is open to the public.
From 1 to 3 p.m. residents will be able to tour and learn more about the facility and the service it will provide to Mon Valley communities and residents.
Recovery housing, also commonly referred to as a recovery residence, is a sober, safe and healthy living environment that promotes recovery from alcohol, drug use and associated problems. Recovery housing, which also provides peer-to-peer recovery support, is aimed at promoting abstinence-based, long-term recovery.
Recovery residences are sober living environments, meaning that residents are expected to abstain from alcohol and illegal drug use.
