Arson is suspected in a two-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon on Evans Avenue in McKeesport.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office cited an “incendiary cause” for the blaze and said McKeesport police are searching for the suspect.
“We are currently looking into this fire as a possible arson,” McKeesport police Capt. Christopher Halaszynski said. “No one is in custody at this time, but McKeesport detectives are following up with this investigation.”
McKeesport Fire Department and its mutual aid companies responded to a home on the 1800 block of Evans Avenue shortly after noon. Several residents on McKeesport community Facebook pages reported hearing what sounded like an explosion before the fire broke out.
McKeesport fire Chief Jeffrey Tomovcsik said the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze, which left the exterior back wall of the home charred and damaged.
