Donora council appointed a new member to the Mon Valley Sewage Authority last night and some expressed concern about Monessen council’s choice to remove an appointee.
Fred Berestecky was initially nominated to the authority but was questioned about the remaining time on his term with the Mon Valley Transit Authority Board.
Councilman Mike McDowell asked if Berestecky would resign from the transit board and Berestecky refused.
“… Because of what the board is working to attempt there to get more money and I want to continue that fight,” Berestecky said.
Berestecky believes that battle could last as long as a year.
McDowell said he was concerned about Berestecky being on both boards for at least a year as both terms last two years. Berestecky said he didn’t want to be on both boards the entire two years.
“I am retired now, I do want to enjoy what life I have left and be able to travel so I can work around one committee,” Berestecky said.
