Guilty plea on railroad charges

An Elizabeth borough man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to sabotaging local railroad signal operations.

William Curry Brown, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of terroristic attacks and violence against a railroad carrier and mass transportation.

Court records state that on Nov. 1, 2017, Brown detached four railroad signal antennas at a location near Braddock by unscrewing them. Additionally, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady, Brown used a pair of bolt cutters and cut railroad signal cables that were housed in a signal bungalow, causing a complete signal failure.

At another location near McKeesport, Brown used the same bolt cutters to sever multiple signal wires that were attached to tracks along the rail line, court records indicate.
