Susan “Sue” Penjak Bonafed, 98, of Monessen, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born on Nov. 6, 1921, in Donora, the daughter of the late John and Ida Kilvady Penjak.Mrs. Bonafed was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 776. She was retired from Bell Telephone Co., where she worked as a telephone operator. Surviving are her three children, Margaret A. “Peggy” Burksaze, Rev. Joseph E. Bonafed and Christine (Michael) Bonafed Singel; three grandchildren, Joanna Burksaze and Lucas and Alex Singel; a brother, James (Louise) Penjak; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Bonafed; two sisters, Edith DelBel and Mary Okowitz; and two brothers, John and Joseph Penjak. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15. Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, beginning with a 9 a.m. Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The family would like to thank the staff of B4 in Westmoreland Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Westmoreland Manor, 2460 S. Grande Blvd., Greensburg, PA 15601. The following services will be held Wednesday in the funeral home: 4 p.m., Epiphany Ladies & Catholic Daughters of the Americas; 7 p.m., Knights of Columbus Prayer Service.
