The Chartiers Valley girls basketball team’s winning streak extended to 43 games Saturday.
A 10-0 run to begin the second half broke open a tight contest and helped to give the Colts a 42-34 victory over visiting Thomas Jefferson in Section 1-5A play.
Chartiers Valley (13-0, 6-0) was led by Megan McConnell and Aislin Malcolm who finished with 15 points each.
While the Jaguars’ defense limited the defending Class 5A state champions far below its season average of 69 points, their offense was unable to knock down shots at key moments.
“I thought our defense was tremendous throughout the game,” said TJ head coach Lisa Fairman. “We had a couple mistakes here and there, you’re going to give up some baskets. Quite honestly, we had a lot of scoring opportunities that we missed. I think that was the difference.”
