Gregor admits voting for ‘boss’
By the Mon Valley Independent
On Thursday, WTAE — a Mon Valley Independent news partner — discovered that new Monessen city administrator John Harhai is a board member at Grandview Cemetery, where Councilman Don Gregor works as superintendent.
That means Gregor voted to hire his boss for a paid position with the city.
Gregor voted with Councilman Gil Coles and Mayor Matt Shorraw to fire city administrator Judy Taylor and hire Harhai, who said Tuesday there was no interview he had to go through to get the job.
Gregor did not disclose his relationship with Harhai or abstain from the vote.
“He’s kind of one of my bosses,” Gregor said of Harhai.
