Nine local grapplers reach medal stand over the weekend

Four local wrestling teams were in tournament action this weekend. 

Bentworth and Ringgold competed in the Tri-County Athletic Directors Association Tournament, while Belle Vernon Area and Yough battled in the Westmoreland County Coaches Association Tournament. No one returned home wearing gold but nine athletes did hit the medal stand.

At South Fayette High School, Bentworth’s Owen Petrisek looked best for the locals, picking up a second place finish at 170 pounds. 

Petrisek (8-3), the three-seed, lost in the final to top-seeded Eli Brinsky of South Fayette after picking up three wins to get there.
