Leonard Santini – Fallowfield Township

By obits

Leonard Santini was born in Lock 4, the second of four children to Edmund Santini and Beatrice Wilkinson Santini. Leonard passed into glory on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, preceded by his wife, Sally Welker Santini, after 63 years of marriage. Leonard was a sharpshooter who served as a tank commander of the 25th Recon Co. in the 25th Infantry during the Korea War from 1950 to 1952. His medals included Good Conduct, United Nations Service, National Defense Service, Korean Service Medal with Major Battle Star and the Korean War Service Medal. Leonard worked at West Penn Power for 37 years until retirement at the age of 62. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 122 and V.F.W. Post No.167. He was past master and a member of Charleroi Masonic Lodge No. 615 F&AM and most recently a member of the Tri-County Masonic Lodge No. 252. Leonard was a member of Royal Arch Chapter No. 164, McKean Commanders Knights Templar No. 80, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Coudersport Consistory. He was also a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 1030 of Charleroi. Leonard was a past president of the Charleroi Area School Board and a lay member of the Charleroi Ministerial Association, serving as treasurer for many years. Until his passing, he served as the treasurer of the board of directors of the Odd Fellows Association in Grove City. Leonard was an avid member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Pittsburgh Opera for 12 years, seeing more than 50 different operas. Leonard greatly enjoyed 77 years of service to the First Christian Church of Charleroi D.O.C. in many offices — most proudly as a member of the choir and as an elder. In addition, Leonard was most devoted to his family and served them faithfully with pride, joy and great expressions of love. He leaves four children, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren to continue his legacy. He was proud to say after his early years he never drank alcohol, used drugs or swear words and lived a controlled modest life by choice. Leonard couldn’t be more aligned to living with God on earth than through nurturing a large garden in any given year. Leonard’s yearly tasty crop of tomatoes were a delight to his family, good neighbors and friends because he found great pleasure in giving away his garden’s fruits. Leonard, “Shorty,” “Burp,” “Lenny,” “Daddy,” “PapPap,” “Happy,” our friend will be missed by all. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Tri-County F&AM Lodge No. 252 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Tax-exempt contributions in lieu of flowers may be donated to the Leonard & Sally Santini Scholarship Fund for eligible College Students at Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
