Looking back at 2019

With a new year’s arrival, there’s plenty of memories to look back on when it comes to Valley sports.

Many of our local sports teams suffered the lowest of lows, some went through the highest of highs. Some teams actually went through both.

I thought about coming up with a simple Top 10 list of the best high school sports stories around the Valley. Lists are so last decade.

We’re going to play it safe. No order, no hurt feelings, no bragging rights … just a simple “here they are.”

We continue to strive to bring you the best local coverage all year long, through all of our local seasons.

One sport isn’t more important than others. It’s up to you, the reader. What are your interests? What sport do you play as a high school athlete? If you are a parent, what sport does your son or daughter participate in? What school’s colors do you wear and what mascot do you represent? Are you a Cougar? Leopard? Greyhound? Jaguar? Trojan? Bearcat? Ram? Commodore? Gladiator? Eagle? Tiger? Warrior or Bear?

That’s what matters the most.

There was plenty of individual and team success all around the Mon Valley. We had coaches coming and going, players coming and going.
