Local football standouts named all-state

Seven local players and a coach earned statewide recognition this past weekend.
A pair of Clairton players were named all-state in Class A, while a Belle Vernon Area standout and four state champions from Thomas Jefferson were selected among the best players in Class 4A. Thomas Jefferson head coach Bill Cherpak was chosen as the Class 4A Coach of the Year in a vote by Pennsylvania football writers.
