Charleroi trounces Yough behind big second-half effort

The battle of the Cougars ended in a Charleroi victory Thursday night. 

Charleroi erased a one-point halftime deficit with a strong second-half effort in a 51-37 triumph over Yough on the opening night of the CFSBank Holiday Classic. 

The Charleroi Cougars (5-3) outscored the Cougars from Yough, 32-17, in the second half. 

Legend Davis led all scorers with 16 points, while Joey Caruso and Zach Usher contributed with 12 and 11 points, respectively. 

Gamal Marballie led Yough (4-5) with a team-high 15 points. Josh O’Bradovich had 13 in the loss. 

Charleroi resumes play at 7 p.m. tonight against Belle Vernon Area, while Yough will play Clairton in the 5:30 p.m. contest.
