With the high school football season coming to a close a few weeks ago, the time has come for us here at MVI Sports to announce our Finest 25, wait … strike that, our Finest 30 football all-star teams.

Adding Thomas Jefferson and Clairton to our coverage area called for the need for the all-star list to expand, and it added a few extra weeks to our season with both advancing to their respective state championship games.

First off, thank you to all the coaches who sent us the requested statistics and additional information needed to help compile the lists. Whether it was simply sending an email or posting statistics on a website like MaxPreps, the help was greatly appreciated.

Yes, there were some coaches who did not send the appropriate information. I’m proud to say despite not getting information from all of our teams, we did get every one of our local teams represented on the list.

We have our Finest 30 team and the Finest 30 “Best of the Rest,” which again, the two are more like 1A and 1B teams. There are great players on each list.

Like previous years, we have our major award winners. We’ve eliminated the top newcomer/breakthrough player award and replaced it with the Excellence in Leadership Award.
