William E. Robson, 89, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, in his home. He was born June 26, 1930, in Donora, the son of Joseph and Margaret Beaumaster Robson. Bill was a 1948 graduate of Donora High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in music education from Carnegie Tech. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monongahela, where he was a former trustee and choir member. Bill was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and played in the Navy Band. He was a music teacher and band director for 28 years for the Ringgold School District. For 35 years, he played the trumpet in the Twin Coaches Orchestra. His memberships included the Tri-County Lodge No. 252 F&AM and the Arroas Haymakers Association No. 258 1/2 in New Eagle. He is survived by his daughter, Twila Ramsden and husband Fred, of Carroll Township; two sons, Roderick Ellsworth and wife Patty of Greenville, S.C., Thomas Ellsworth of Monongahela; three grandchildren, Chad Ramsden and wife Ginny, Cassandra and Hanah Ellsworth; great-grandson, Tyler Miller; and sister, Peggy Jenkins of Erie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Swoger Robson who died March 3, 2002. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 430 W. Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
