Clifford E. ‘Skeets’ Jones – Monessen

Clifford E. “Skeets” Jones, 93, of Monessen, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019. He was born in North Charleroi, on March 12, 1926, a son of the late Clifford and Kathryn E. Frye Jones. He was a graduate of Monessen High School. Clifford was World War II veteran having served in the United States Army and a Purple Heart Recipient. After his military service, he graduated Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was employed for 31 years as a teacher in the Monessen City School a, having taught a variety of business subjects to high school students. Clifford was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen. He was a past exalted ruler of the Monessen Elks No. 773, a member of the American Legion and the Tri-County Masonic Lodge No. 252 F&AM. As an avid card player (duplicate bridge) and an active sportsman, he achieved both a hole-in-one in golf and a perfect “300” game of duckpin bowling. Survivors of “Uncle Skeets” are his nephew, Thomas L. Jones; great-nephews, Matthew and wife Lea Jones and Nicholas Jones; great-niece, Kathryn and husband Joshua Lazzari; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Fiona and Henry Jones and Eleni and Nico Lazzari. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R. Lee Jones and infant, Edwin Jones. The family would like to especially thank the compassionate care provided Clifford by caregiver, Merrie Hewitt and neighbor, Michael Smida. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019. Burial will follow in the Bealsville Cemetery, Bealsville.
