Esterina Iannetti Turcic, 103, of Donora, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at her home. She was born on Nov. 8, 1916, in San Egidio, Italy, the daughter of the late Bernardo and Celia DiPietro Medori. Ester, as she was known by family and friends, was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Valley Church and had been actively involved with the Altar Society at the former St. Philip Neri Church. She loved cooking her Italian specialties and kept an immaculate house. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, bowling and playing cards. She especially loved bowling, which she did until age 93. Caring for her husbands and daughters were of prime importance to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Marino Iannetti on May 13, 1965, and Joseph Turcic on Nov. 8, 1984; an infant son who died at birth; and a daughter, Annida who died at the age of 2 in May of 1940. She was a strong, determined and loving mother to two daughters, Linda Iannetti of Donora and Jean Lanzo of Easton, Conn. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by three grandchildren, Douglas (Marianna) Lanzo of Chevy Chase, Md., Shane Lanzo of Alexandria, Va., and Chad (Danille) Lanzo of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three great-grandsons, identical twins Alexander D. and Gregory D. Lanzo; and toddler, Sabastian Lanzo, all to whom she was devoted. She had two brothers and one sister and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext. Carroll Township/Donora, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, followed by a noon blessing service. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Church at a later date.
