The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team tuned up for its first big Section 1-5A showdown with an impressive win over West Allegheny Monday night.
The Jaguars received balanced scoring and played stellar defense en route to dispatching the Indians, 71-23.
Graci Fairman led TJ (5-1, 2-0) with 16 points, while Dalaney Ranallo (13) and Alyssa DeAngelo (12) also recorded double-digit points. All-in-all, 12 Jaguar players found their way into the scorebook.
“That’s kind of a key for us, it is going to take five kids to go out there and win games,” said Thomas Jefferson coach Lisa Fairman. “That is really what we focus on, trying to make sure we are not an individually driven team. These kids just worry about what the score is at the end of the game, not individual points.”
