Epps brothers lead SA to lopsided win

On and off the court, Antonio and Bryce Epps feed off each other’s energy.

When Antonio is acting a certain way at home, so too does Bryce, Antonio said.

And when one of them sets the lead with a degree of passion and play on the court, the other follows.

Such was the case Tuesday night for the brothers, who occupy South Allegheny’s backcourt.

Burrell felt the effect of it as the Gladiators rolled to a 64-38 win to improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Section 3-3A play.

Antonio, a junior, got going first, but Bryce, a freshman, matched and even bettered his brother in the second half. Menacing the Bucs with constant ball pressure, strong shooting and deft finishing, Antonio finished with 17 points, while Bryce had 22.

“It presents a very difficult matchup for opposing teams,” said South Allegheny coach Tony DiCenzo. “They’re excellent ball handlers and they can score the ball as well from the perimeter and around the rim. It makes it very difficult to focus on one.”
