Betty C. Russo Pietroboni, 89, of Monongahela, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Feb. 15, 1930, in Monessen, she was the daughter of Antonio and Jeannette Frolo Russo. Betty was a 1949 graduate of Monessen High School and for many years worked at the Monessen Span and Taylor Drug Store and the former American Cleaners in Monongahela. She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela, formerly St. Anthony Church, where she always looked forward to volunteering in the kitchen at their annual Festa. She also belonged to its Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. With her love for decorating and planting flowers, she made her home beautiful inside and out. She also helped her husband, John, in the planting of the beautiful flowers around the church and the city. Her delicious cooking and baking would have you always going back for seconds and sometime thirds. Surviving are a son, Dennis Pietroboni (Pamela Denny) of Carroll Township; and a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and William Brounce of Monongahela; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Vern Behanna of Rockville, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, John Russo (Joanne Davis) of Stockdale; two grandchildren, Schuyler Brounce (Emily Leghart) and Cody (Ashley) Brounce; a niece and nephew, Vernon (Mary) Behanna and Toni (Paul) Brown; and a great-nephew, Marty Brown; along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death was her husband, John U. Pietroboni, who passed away Sept. 30, 2004. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
