Mary B. Snyder – Monessen

By obits

Mary B. Snyder, 94, a lifelong Monessen resident, was lifted from this earth on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, to rejoin her fellow angels. Daughter of the late John and Mary Klima Benyak of Summit Avenue, Monessen, Mary was a faithful member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Saint Leonard, Epiphany of Our Lord and Saint Sebastian parishes. Mary was born Jan. 14, 1925, and graduated from Monessen High School in 1942. She worked as a cashier at the Star and Manos theaters in Monessen and was later employed as a secretary at Rosensen’s Furniture before marrying in 1950. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William, in 2000; treasured sister, Irene (SCN), in 2013, and son, Barry Jo, in June of 2019. In addition to her brother, John Benyak and wife Joan of Monessen, she is survived by her four loving children, William Christopher Snyder and wife Rebecca of Ligonier; Sandra Irene Lalley and husband Roderick of Oil City; Robert Mark Snyder and wife Maryanne of Bridgeville; and Nancy Grace Rodriguez and husband Rick of Fayette City. Mary took special delight in her five grandchildren, Chad Holden and wife Jennifer of Los Angeles, Calif., Leighann Smith and husband Ryan of Chicago, Ill., Rachael Rodriguez and fiancé Sam Eilerman of Greensburg, Kyle Rodriguez of Westerville, Ohio, and William Vincent Snyder of Ligonier; and one great-grandchild, Quinn Holden of Los Angeles. Mary very much enjoyed her family and friends, keeping a nice home, being a part of the Hi Neighbor card club that spanned five decades, working crossword puzzles, volunteering at Monessen Public Library, and participating in school and church activities. She acknowledged living a full life, and even through her last weeks, enjoyed reminiscing about the old days, including dances, her cherished friends and the achievements of family members across four generations. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, with Father Michael J. Crookston officiating. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at the Holy Name Cemetery of Monessen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OSPTA Homecare and Hospice. The Snyder gamily would like to thank The Residence at Hilltop Personal Care Home and the OSPTA hospice for their attentiveness and compassion while keeping Mary comfortable. Online condolences may be conveyed to the Snyder family at www.rhomefuneralhome.com
