South Fayette’s Brandon Jakiela beat a defender on a back door cut and looked destined to sink a game-winning layup with just seconds left on the clock Friday night at Thomas Jefferson High School.
Shane Stump had a different idea in mind.
“Jump high and pin it,” Stump said.
The Thomas Jefferson senior did just that, coming up with a clutch block on Jakiela to preserve a 63-62 victory for the Jaguars in Section 2-5A play.
“Shane’s block was as clean as could be,” TJ head coach Dom DeCicco said. “He just made a beautiful play on it. (Connor Mislan and Jakiela) were the ones we were worried about. We brought Ian Hansen in to cover Mislan and then Shane made the play of the game.”
