The House Judiciary Committee this week is expected to vote on charges against President Donald Trump that will focus on abuse of power on Ukraine in a bid to get an unfair advantage in U.S. elections and obstruction in the congressional inquiry.
“We’ll bring articles of impeachment presumably before the committee at some point later in the week,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y.
Local lawmaker, U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Peters Township, is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and feels that the process is moving along with insufficient information.
“As the sole House committee responsible for compiling articles of impeachment, members of the Judiciary Committee should hear from and have the opportunity to cross-examine all of the fact witnesses who testified in front of the Intelligence Committee,” Reschenthaler said. “Congressional Democrats’ arbitrary December deadline for rushing through this impeachment vote proves this is nothing more than a political hit job.”
