George H. Burkett – Belle Vernon

George H. Burkett, 86, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1933, in Pricedale, he was the son of the late Willard T. and Katherine Treadwell Burkett. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Burkett was Protestant by faith and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant, where he worked as a machinist. George was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, VFW Belle Vernon Post 699, AMVETS Post 0103 Uniontown, Belle Vernon Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 209, Fairhope Rod and Gun Club, Pricedale Russian Club and was a life member of the Second Division Association. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jeff Lowe of Jefferson Hills and Debra and Ed Morrow of Belle Vernon; son, George Burkett of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Jennifer Campedel and husband Tom, Eddie Morrow, Amber Morrow and Sean Burkett; two great-grandchildren, Beatrice Campedel and Rosaline Campedel; brother and sisters-in-law, Charles and Sheryl Burkett of Hopwood and Nina Burkett of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Gaul; brother, Daniel Burkett; and his former wife, Patricia Scurci. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Parzynski Funeral Home and Cremations, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home with Pastor Lee Maley of Amedisys Hospice officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Condolences accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
