Anthony ‘Tony’ Mascetta – Monessen

Anthony “Tony” Mascetta, 90, of Monessen, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, in Havencrest Nursing Center. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Monessen, the son of the late Frank and Marianna Carrozza Mascetta. Tony lived in Monessen most of his life and was a 1949 graduate of Monessen High School. He was active in the Monessen community having been involved in sports and politics. He played baseball for the Ozark baseball team and managed American Legion baseball teams. Tony “21-A” served two terms as a councilman for the city of Monessen. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and had worked as a self-employed insurance agent. Tony was also a member of Eagles Aerie 2399, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, Italian-American Heritage Society, and a former member of American Legion Post 28. He served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He is survived by his brother, Robert A. (Beverly) Mascetta of Monessen; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nicholas and Richard Mascetta; and by a sister, Assunta Mascetta. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Services will be held beginning with a 9:00 a.m. blessing on Monday in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The Knights of Columbus Council 954 will conduct a prayer service in the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
