Shahan looks to defend PIAA, WPIAL titles

Much like last season, Belle Vernon Area is expecting big things from a trio of swimmers leading the team.
Ian Shahan, Sam West and Delaney Patterson were all WPIAL and PIAA qualifiers last season, and coach Rob Reda believes the three have taken the necessary steps to reach those marks again.
“Ian, Sam and Delaney have been really working hard in the offseason,” Reda said. “There have been a lot of efforts on their part to kind of help them to do just as well if not better this year.”
Shahan, a junior, is the WPIAL and PIAA champion in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle.
West, also a junior, swam the 200 freestyle at the WPIAL championships.
