Basketball season emphatically arrives Friday as all but one of our local boys teams and all of our local girls teams will be in action.

Most of our teams will be participating in annual tip-off tournaments around the region, many of whom will be hosting.

The California boys and girls will be hosting the Trojans Tip-Off beginning Friday.

The Trojans’ boys will face rival Beth-Center at 8 p.m.

The Charleroi boys will open their season against Avella at the California Tip-off as well.

Head coach Joe Salvino will begin his second season at Belle Vernon Area on the road at the Hempfield tournament.

The Leopards will open the season against Jeannette at 5:30 p.m. Friday before turning around and facing Greensburg Salem Saturday.

McKeesport will also make its debut at Hempfield, facing Franklin Regional at 4 p.m. Friday.
