Michael Paul Amoroso
Columbia, Md.,
Formerly of Monongahela
Michael Paul Amoroso, 54, of Columbia, Md., formerly of Monongahela, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, after a 10-month battle with cancer. He was a loving husband to his wife, Terry, and a devoted father to his four children, Kyle, Sydney, Logan and Ethan. Michael was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., but grew up in Monongahela with his parents, Donald Amoroso and the late Joanne Furiga Amoroso; his sister, Annamarie Delzangle; and brother, David Amoroso. Michael graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Not only did he obtain a degree at IUP, but he also met his future wife on campus. Michael was employed as the vice president of operations for a local parking management company. He prided himself on outstanding customer service and never asked anyone to do anything that he wouldn’t do himself. Michael was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a former den leader and cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 61, Cub Scout Pack 108 and was actively involved as an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 874. He selflessly spent many weekends camping with his sons and other scouts in addition to attending weeklong summer camps. Michael had a lifelong passion for the game of baseball. He played Little League baseball in his youth and coached all three of his sons’ various teams through the fall of 2018. He loved teaching the boys the fundamentals of baseball and watching each boy’s development as a baseball player. He was competitive, but instilled in his players respect for the game, respect for each other and respect for the coaches and umpires. Michael looked forward to the family’s annual trips to the beach. His favorite place was Sanibel Island, Fla. He would be one of the first people on the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise and look for the best seashells. A funeral Mass was held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Clarksville, Md., at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019. Interment followed at St Louis Cemetery. If you wish to honor Michael, the family is requesting donations be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (cholangiocarcinoma.org.)
