Laura M. Marksteiner – McKeesport

Laura M. Marksteiner, 99, formerly of McKeesport, was reunited with her husband and children on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019. Her passing occurred at Cranberry Place, where she had resided for the last three and a half years. Born May 4, 1920, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose Johnston. Laura worked in the cafeteria at McKeesport High School for 19½ years. She was a longtime member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Laura was a loving grandmother and was proud of her grandchildren. Her favorite saying was we all came from “Good Stock”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Marksteiner, on Oct. 1, 1997; a son, Joseph A. Marksteiner, on Feb. 11, 2012; and a daughter, Karen Miller, on Sept. 12, 2014; two brothers, Bud and John Johnston; and a sister, Alice Chuchla. She will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Marksteiner of Potter Township; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where prayers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Versailles Township. Contributions may be made in Laura’s memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1409 Pennsylvania Ave., Monaca, PA 15061.
