For the Thomas Jefferson swim team’s first 20 years of existence, there was a bit of a disconnect between the team and the school.
Because Thomas Jefferson lacked a pool, the Jaguars’ spent those 20 years busing to Ringgold, Steel Valley and Elizabeth Forward to practice.
That will no longer be a problem this season.
A goal that seemed out of sight for most of those 20 years has finally come to fruition, as Thomas Jefferson’s own pool opened in October.
As such, excitement around the swim team has grown.
“They’ve taken ownership in this facility and they have a lot of pride in it,” said Jaguars’ coach John Penn. “They’re ready to go.”
