Gloria Celeste Brown Holmes – Monessen

Gloria Celeste Brown Holmes, 91, of Monessen, departed this life on Monday Nov. 25, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends to be with the Lord. Gloria was known for her loving heart and welcoming spirit, her love and pride for her family was endless. Being with her family, having fun, dancing, and enjoying her loved ones was her greatest joy. Gloria was an active member of Union Baptist Church having served a number of roles over the years. She served on the Missionary Board and most recently as “The Mother of the Church”. Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Milfred Holmes, as well as her seven siblings. She leaves behind six children, Sherry (Perry) Reed of Pittsburgh, Vicki Lynn (Marlon) Wheeler of Monessen, Milfred “Bubby” Holmes of Minneapolis, Minn., Valencia (Robert) Jackson of Pittsburgh, Stacy White of Pittsburgh, Kent (Tiffani) Holmes of Plum; 11 grandchildren, Jason Holmes, Shawn (Niki) Reed, Shontay (General) Butler, Marlynn (Sean) Love, Mia (Larren) Bryan, Quinton (Jennifer) Jackson, Philip (Ashly) White, Kent Holmes Jr., Kinley Holmes, Kai Holmes, Kade Holmes; and by 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 230 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church, with the Rev. Brandon Humphries giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Arrangements entrusted to DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.
