On Tuesday, Charleroi School Board directors and administrators gave district families a little extra to be thankful for.

For the past 15 years, they have purchased dozens of turkeys and fixings for Thanksgiving meals. This year, they raised and donated more than $2,000 to purchase the necessities for 42 dinners.

They packed their cars full of turkeys and food boxes and headed out to hand deliver them to families.

The dinners include a 20-pound turkey, potatoes, buns, a pumpkin pie, whipped topping, gravy, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, butter, lemonade drink mix and yams.

Director Adele Hopkins, who joined several volunteers in delivering meals, said the program began 15 years ago under a different administration and has grown each year.
