Hugo Bardi – Monongahela
Hugo Bardi, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, beloved father and friend, died peace-fully on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019. He was born on Aug. 21, 1926, to Guilio and Theresa Bardi. Hugo was predeceased by his brothers John (Pat) and Lou (Barbara); and his sister, Julia (Phil) Appolonia; his nieces, Joette (Gary) Fritch and Denise (Jules) Kalan; and nephew, Lenny Bardi. Hugo is survived by his son, Chris (Kathy) Bardi; daughter, Lisa (Ron) Hibbard; step-grandchildren Ryan, Michael (Rachel) and Scott (Alexa) Hibbard and three step-great-grandchildren. Hugo pre-empted his high school graduation, as many did in the early times, to begin his career at Combustion Engineering in Monongahela. Hugo then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a Naval Repair Base in Trinidad. Upon his return to the Mon Valley, he went back to work at Combustion Engineering and became a foreman in the machine shop. Hugo will be fondly remembered as being a GREAT cook (one of his nicknames being “Chef Boy-Bard-Di”), proud patriot, a man that asked for very little but gave so much with his smile and gratitude to all who touched his life. Hugo was known for making you laugh and never complaining. Most of all, he’ll be remembered as the greatest Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Monongahela Library in his memory. Hugo was laid to rest on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Westside Memorial Gardens, Veterans Section in Scottsville, N.Y. A Celebration of Life followed at the American Legion Chili Post in Scottsville, NY 14546.
