Coming off a 5-9 season, the Yough wrestling team plans to use increased numbers and solid offseason work to improve the team standing and get more individuals into the postseason.

“I’m really excited about the group we have here. Guys that have been quieter in the past have really stepped up as leaders and have invested themselves into taking the teams performance as a personal responsibility,” said fourth-year coach Eric Bush.  “The attitude and work ethic of guys like Lee Ritzer,  Glenn Christner and others has been outstanding.”

“Christner and I have been working extra hard this last month, doing preseason work and going over moves,” said Ritzer. “We like to lead the team by example and being very intense in practice is one of the things we like to stress. The others see this and put in the same intensity as us.”

Ritzer, a senior, competed at 126 pounds last season. Christner is a junior and was at 152 pounds. They will be joined in the Cougar lineup by six other returning starters.
