Rostraver residents can expect another year with no tax increase in 2020, marking 16 years since the township last saw an increase.
Last night’s special meeting set forth the introduction of the proposed budget that will move for approval at the Dec. 4 meeting.
Pending the board’s approval, revenues will total $7,771,560 and combined expenditures will amount to $7,771,405. A surplus of $155 will remain.
This year’s combined revenues and expenditures are expected to total $7,462,995, which is more than $300,000 less than next year’s proposed spending plan.
Solicitor Timothy Maatta said the tax ordinance will remain at a stagnant 15 mills, or $1.50 on every $100 of assessed value. This matches last year’s numbers.
If the proposed budget is then approved, it will be advertised for a minimum of 20 days before adoption in order to give the public time to review the numbers. The board plans to officially adopt the budget at a Dec. 30 meeting.
Commissioner and board President Devin DeRienzo said the budget is not likely to change before the Dec. 4 meeting and described the nature of the budget as “well-balanced” this year.
Voting on the measure were Commissioners Gary Beck Sr., DeRienzo and Henry Boldyzar Jr. Commissioners Ray Iacoboni and Gary Litvany were absent.
Commissioner-elect John Lorenzo was invited to sit in on last night’s special meeting. Lorenzo will be sworn in at the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting.
