Armeda Joy Sloan Riley was born on December 22, 1956 in New Eagle to Audrey L. Sloan and the late Charles “Stu” Sloan Jr. She was the second of six children. She departed this life on Nov.17, 2019. Joy graduated from Ringgold High School, Donora Campus in 1974. She attended Seton-Hill College where she received her bachelor of arts degree in 1978. Joy was retired from the Social Security Administration in Atlanta, Ga. Because of her declining health, she relocated back to Donora, where she resided with her brother Jay and sister-in-law Paula. Joy leaves to cherish her memories two children in Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers; Charles A. Sloan III of Donora, the Rev. Dr. George D. Sloan (Toni) of Seneca, S.C., and Walter Sloan (Paula) of Donora; and a sister: Kathy L. Crable (Michael) of Fort Worth, Texas. Joy will be greatly missed by a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, three dear friends; Deborah Wilson of Monessen, Linda Fuller and Brenda Love of Donora. Joy is preceded in death by her late husband, Tony Riley; and sister, Kerri Lorie Sloan. Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 at House of Jackson Memorial Chapel, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, with funeral service starting directly after the visitation at 5 p.m. The final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of the HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, Karl Jackson Funeral Director, 724-379-5420.
