Outgoing BVA directors say goodbye

By Mon Valley Independent

While Monday’s Belle Vernon Area School Board meeting wasn’t an official changing of the guard, it felt that way as board members on the way out delivered speeches and were honored by peers.

Director Gloria Yuschak and board President Lou Rood were recognized by Vice President Joe Grata as they prepare to leave office.

New board members Robert Harhai and Justin Kosanko will take on official bond agreement efforts and the execution of the long-developed comprehensive plan beginning with the reorganization meeting Dec. 2.

“I want to express deep appreciation for the dedication, time, interest and hard work of Lou Rood and Gloria Yuschak during their four years of service,” Grata said. “They were instrumental parts of major changes in BVA, all for the better. … I would like to say that we have been fortunate that both of them have always acted in the best interest of students, staff and community and have had them at the top of their agendas.

“It’s a thankless job. It’s a tough job. But the public can be assured that you’ve contributed substantially toward creating a better BVA, and for that, I applaud you and the board applauds you.”
